Internet 'can help charities'
Broadband users could be persuaded to use their connection to help a good cause, according to communications agency Society Media.
Director of the company Henry Palmer explained that the internet could be instrumental in delivering results for charities through tools such as viral videos, which highlights the importance of broadband connections.
Mr Palmer added that following the example of charities such as Friends of the Earth and its Big Ask campaign could help other organisations trying to increase interest, which may be noteworthy to broadband customers hoping to bring attention to their company or good cause.
"[The internet] is a hugely important platform for charities, but also other organisations, that are trying to raise awareness and raise their profile on a low budget," said Mr Palmer.
It was revealed by the Charities Aid Foundation that the donations it processed online grew from £3.6 million in 2003 to £6.8 million in 2004, with a 109 per cent growth on its givenow.org site for credit and debit card giving.
