Broadband provider BT Wholesale has announced that it has delivered 11.2 million high-speed internet connections.
According to the firm's latest results report, the first quarter of this year saw the addition of about 459,000 broadband connections
During the same period the broadband provider's share of net additions was 38 per cent, with the firm also reporting a three per cent rise in core earnings as expected.
Also up three per cent were pre-tax profits, which rose to £658 million.
In addition to posting its positive results, the firm has also taken on a new head of its wholesale division who will take charge of rolling out BT's 21st Century Network.
The communications network aims to consolidate some of BT's systems to provide next generation technology for end users and make services faster and more efficient.
Over a five-year period, the firm will be replacing its equipment infrastructure of telephone exchanges and migrating millions of its customers' lines.
