The UK broadband market is holding up well as it prepares for a slowdown in growth, according to market analyst Point Topic.
Based on figures produced by BT, the analyst revealed there were some 16.74 million broadband line subscriptions in Britain at the end of June.
Point Topic said the figure is significantly higher than it forecasts had suggested.
But Tim Johnson, chief analyst at Point Topic, said that growth in new broadband subscriptions face an inevitable slowdown as the market becomes saturated.
"The reasons for the drop are simple, the number of dial-up homes ripe for migration to broadband is rapidly dwindling," he explained.
"There are barely a million of them left now and they are an increasingly resistant minority."
A separate study by Point Topic recommends that internet customers are better off subscribing to bundled broadband rather than standalone broadband.
The analyst found that the average price of a bundled package with VoIP services was £25.17, compared with a standalone tariff of £29.71.
