Broadband a 'useful tool for mums'

Broadband a 'useful tool for mums' Mothers looking for advice on childcare now turn to the internet, rather than family, according to research from broadband provider BT and website Netmums.

The news could interest parents looking for tips, who may live far away from their immediate family as it was shown that 47 per cent of mums look to the internet for advice on parenting and health.

Co-founder of Netmums Siobhan Freegard explained: "The internet is now a well-established lifeline to many mums and this study shows that when they need a sounding-board, they will log on to get support even before they call a family member or their GP."

It was also revealed that 63 per cent of mothers use the internet 'heavily', with 94 per cent of them saying they have saved money because of the internet - highlighting the importance of broadband connections.

Netmums, which offers the chance for parents to chat to others in their area, is also involved in online campaigning on issues such as knife crime and junk food.
