Over 12Mbs for half of Be broadband customers

Over 12Mbs for half of Be broadband customers Since the introduction of ADSL2+ technology, Be customers have been enjoying access to super-quick broadband access, it has been revealed.

Nearly half of Be customers now have a connection speed higher than 12Mbs, which is five times the average UK download speed, believed to be around 2Mbs and a quarter have access to connections over 16Mbs.

The new technology, introduced in September 2005, allows speeds to reach 24Mbs, depending on the distance and quality of the copper line from residents' local telephone exchange.

Dana Pressman, managing director of Be Unlimited, said: "The UK is one of the fastest places in Europe for broadband and demonstrates how advanced the Be network has become.

"Since launching in 2005 we have focused on our goal: to provide the best possible broadband products that technology will allow."

One customer from North Lanarkshire, who lives 443m from his telephone exchange currently has a broadband speed of 24.573Mbs, the fastest available.

Graham Wilson said: "Speeds are phenomenal, from a good download location speeds between 22 and 24Mbs are easily obtainable."
