Plan to get Britons online announced

Broadband use could become more widespread, as a government strategy to get all UK citizens online is announced.
Developments were announced in a mission statement delivered by minister for digital inclusion Paul Murphy, who pledged to get those not connected to the internet online, reports the BBC.
Mr Murphy reportedly told the National Digital Inclusion Conference: "We came up with the following mission statement: To coordinate policies and a coherent strategy that all citizens, especially the disadvantaged, can benefit from new technologies."

Phorm 'could be a good thing'

Broadband consumers who are concerned about the security implications concerning the use of Phorm could be interested in the positive reaction it got from the news editor of Web-User magazine.

Importance of speed in the future explained

Faster broadband speeds could improve the potential of internet applications, according to the founder of online community Second Life.
Philip Rosedale has spoken about the importance of developing fibre optic broadband networks, which could help sustain popular websites that use high amounts of bandwidth, reports Telappliant.
It was recently noted that the registration rate on Second Life, which offers users an entire online world, witnessed a 4.6 per cent increase in subscriptions in January, rather than the 50 per cent boost seen in October 2006.
