AOL aims to give consumers "personal experience"

AOL aims to give consumers AOL chairman and CEO Randy Falco has stated that once they have completed the integration of social network website Bebo, AOL and other products will provide an "unmatched offering for consumers".

The broadband giants are now focusing on their advertising, publishing and people networks, and are currently in the process of integrating their tools such as AIM messaging, ICQ, chat and mail applications into recent acquisition Bebo.

In addition to this, AOL plans to introduce content control onto the social networking site, both as a security measure for users but also to aid and reassure advertisers of the quality of the pages it promotes its products on.

With the incorporation of Bebo, Mr Falco believes AOL is "uniquely positioned to capitalise on the exploding social media space by delivering a more personal experience for consumers".

Microsoft is reported to be looking into a similar takeover of social networking site Facebook in a $15 billion (£7.6 billion) takeover.
