Free Wi-Fi for Shoreditch?

Residents of Shoreditch may soon be able to get online without charge if BT carries out its plan to black the area with free Wi-Fi access.
The promotion will be limited to 1,000 La Fonera+ Wi-Fi routers, which are to be delivered to the town this summer, reports Absolute Gadget.
"This is a project to create a Free Wi-Fi area for Shoreditch, so that local businesses and residents can share their Wi-Fi with their neighbours and surf the internet for free, " says Shoreditchwifi.com.

Orange's free broadband promotion returns

Internet service provider (ISP) Orange has announced that it will be bringing back its free broadband promotion.
Customers who purchase a £30 per month mobile phone contract will be eligible to receive broadband from the firm free of charge, reports ISP Review.
It is thought that Orange's move is intended to stem the flow of customers away from them towards their rivals.

Vodafone mobile broadband available in south-east

Vodafone's high-speed packet access based mobile broadband service is now available to internet users in Reading.
The company claims that the service can offer download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps with uploads of 1.8 Mbps, reports ISP Review.
However, it is thought that in actuality the speeds will be closer to 2 Mbps for downloads as a result of varying coverage and network capacity.
