Like all of the BT Broadband packages, Option 1 allows for connection speeds of up to 8Mbps, gives you the option to choose the length of the contract (either 12 or 18 months), includes 5 free email addresses, 250 free Wi-Fi minutes per month, and allows you to make free evening and weekend calls via BT Broadband Talk, BT's VoIP service.

There is a download limit of 10GB per month, which should be enough for most families, but more frequent users may find this restrictive and may want to sign up for one of BT's higher-end packages. With a fast connection and inclusive UK calls and technical support bundled as standard, BT's basic Broadband deal is hard to beat.

The new BT Home Hub 2.0 is also available for BT Option 1 subscribers for a one-off £45 fee.
